Malibu

Criminal Defense Attorney in Malibu, CA

Over the last 26 years of practicing criminal defense, I've handled hundreds of Malibu-related arrests. There used to be a courthouse on Civil Center Way in the heart of Malibu, but it has since closed, and the cases have been divided between the Airport court and Van Nuys court.

So, if you get arrested and bailout, the bail slip you're given should show which court you will have to appear in. It won't be Malibu court, even though there used to be a courthouse in that city.

Sometimes, you can also get a citation from the police if they don't arrest you, especially now during the coronavirus; it's scarce that they're arresting and holding people because they don't want them to have to go into custody, but the citation will show which court you have to appear.

Lawyer Familiar with Dealing with Cases in Malibu

My suggestion is if you're looking for an attorney, you've come to an attorney who has a lot of experience and is familiar with dealing with cases where people are arrested in the city of Malibu.  It's usually by the sheriffs.

The Lost Hills Sheriff's Station controls most of the city of Malibu, so I've dealt with them for many years now and know how they investigate cases. I also know how sometimes they'll give a slanted, one-sided interpretation of what happened, leading to the arrest and what the person allegedly did.

Criminal Defense Attorney in the City of Malibu, CA

It's my job as your criminal defense attorney to make sure that your side of the story is put out there to the prosecutors and the judges, who will ultimately be the ones to decide what, if anything, you're charged with and what type of a sentence you might get if you get convicted or you work out some plea bargain.

So, Malibu is not the biggest city in the world. I would say it's tiny compared to the rest of the population. However, many driving-related severe criminal filings occur there, and of course, I've handled other types of crimes over the years of practicing there.

So, typically, I will have you call in, and we'll get some information from you about your case, and you'll meet with me.  We'll review your entire criminal case, and I will also try to get some background information.

If you live in Malibu or were just arrested in Malibu, I would want that information and find out about your job and other things related to who you are and what you're all about.

Negotiating with the Prosecutors

That way, if we do decide it's the type of case that I'm going to need to negotiate with the prosecutors, I'm willing to have a good background related to you and all the information for me to put together a good mitigation package on your behalf in negotiating with the prosecutors. As your attorney, I will use my experience and knowledge of the legal system to negotiate the best possible outcome for you.

Even though you were arrested in Malibu, the Los Angeles District Attorney's office will prosecute you. So, those will be the lawyers on the other side that I'll be dealing with on your behalf.

Don't hesitate to contact us now. We are fully prepared to assist you in protecting your rights, freedom, and reputation. You're not alone in this.
