Best Defense in SFV

Best Defense Attorney in the San Fernando Valley

The Hedding Law Firm, a longstanding San Fernando Valley institution, has served the community for many years. With a legacy that began in the mid-1970s, our firm has been a beacon of legal expertise. As an attorney since the early 1990s, I have continued this tradition of excellence.

When you need the best legal representation for a crime in the Valley, it's imperative that you reach out to us and arrange a meeting with Ron Hedding.

I've been handling cases in the San Fernando Valley for nearly 30 years.  Judges and prosecutors know very well that you need the best because you're only really going to have one chance to defend yourself in a criminal case.  You'll only have one real opportunity to get the best result.

So, the question becomes, why would you settle for anything less than the best when your future is at stake, when your liberty is at stake, when your record is at stake, when your potential job pool in the future is at stake because you've got a criminal case. You may get a mark on your record that you cannot get off.  You must contact the best criminal defense attorney.

Having done this a long time, that is a tiny percentage of cases when it relates to criminal cases in the Valley because most of the time, police and prosecutors are not going to arrest somebody for a crime unless that person has committed the crime, number one; and number two, they've got the evidence to prove that they've committed the crime.  So, the key for you is finding an attorney who can win a trial if necessary. I've done nearly 250 tests as a criminal defense attorney.  That's a lot of experience.

As I make this post, my father and I will still work together towards the end of 2020.  I like to think we are a couple of the best criminal defense attorneys in the San Fernando Valley, and even Los Angeles, because of the connections that we have built in the courthouses because of the hard work that we've engaged in for our clients, the experience that we both have.

Extensive Experience In the Legal Field

Best Criminal Defense Attorney in the San Fernando Valley
After being arrested, you need a criminal defense lawyer who knows how to fight a case and negotiate a case.

Part of finding the best criminal defense attorney is finding somebody who knows the local courts, knows how to deal with the prosecutors, has dealt with the judges before, and knows how to get you the result you must have.

For us, the most critical aspect of your case is ensuring you achieve the desired result.  Whether you are innocent and need a not-guilty verdict at trial or a skilled negotiator to help you navigate the legal system, we are here to fight for you. Your future is our priority, and we are committed to getting you the best possible result.

I have well-rounded experience, having worked for the District Attorney's office in East Los Angeles and working for a Superior Court Judge as his right-hand man/research attorney. That gives me some good background on the other side, and these judges are making decisions to decide the fate of the many criminal defenses being prosecuted in Los Angeles County.

Then, having been a criminal defense attorney fighting for my clients since the early 1990s, I think it puts me in a group of attorneys who have a lot of good experience with many good connections.

One who knows how to fight a case knows how to negotiate a case, and I think probably the most important thing is a group of criminal defense attorneys in Los Angeles. They are very good at dealing with cases but can't try a case. That puts the attorney at a considerable disadvantage, which puts the client at a significant disadvantage.

Skilled Negotiator With Prosecutor

You've got to have the ability to try the right case.  In other words, you can't negotiate every single case because:

  • (1) some cases need to be prosecuted because the client is indicating they are innocent and because the prosecutors don't have the evidence to prove the case;
  • (2) in other cases, the prosecution's case needs to be roughed up and shown for what it is, which can only be done through litigation.

Whether it be motions or doing the preliminary hearing, cross-examining the prosecution's witnesses, showing the weaknesses in their case, showing some of the evidence that your client has told you about or that you have discovered through investigation, I think that's one of the most crucial things that I do.  I can try a case in the courthouses in Los Angeles County, and I have the connections and the know-how to negotiate a case.

The other more realistic thing when you're looking for the best criminal defense attorney in the San Fernando Valley is you want somebody to be able to help you negotiate the case — sit down with the prosecutors, figure out who the supervisor is, figure out what type of facts and circumstances can be brought to their attention that helps tell your story.

Not just your story of the criminal case — which can undoubtedly somehow be necessary — but your story about who you are as a person so you don't end up being viewed as a criminal who deserves the worst possible result and the worst possible punishment.

Familiarity with Local Prosecutors and Judges

So, you've come to the right place.  Suppose you or a loved one is charged with a criminal offense that occurred in the San Fernando Valley, and you're being prosecuted in one of those courts.

In that case, either the Van Nuys Court or San Fernando Court, but also on the outskirts of the valley, you've got all the courts to the east — Burbank, Glendale, Pasadena. Malibu is now being prosecuted between the Airport Court and Van Nuys.  Those cases are split up as the Malibu courthouse has shut down.

If you even go further north, you have the Valencia courthouse.  That is not the case in the San Fernando Valley, but it's close, and many cases are split between the San Fernando Court and the Valencia Court.

If you're looking for the best in the San Fernando Valley and have a criminal case, you've come to the right place.  I worked for the District Attorney's office in the early 1990s, early in my career, so I know how they handle cases.

I worked for a Superior Court Judge as his right-hand man, as well, and in 1994, I opened my practice and have been a criminal defense attorney ever since.  So, I know what it takes to get you the best result.

So, if you need somebody who has dedicated their life to criminal defense, my office is in Encino.  Pick up the phone and ask to speak to Ron Hedding.  I stand ready to help you.  I've handled criminal cases throughout the San Fernando Valley and Los Angeles counties.
