Anthony Nicholas Orban, a former Westminster police detective, has been accused of kidnapping a woman from Ontario Mills mall in 2010 and raping her at gunpoint. He now faces kidnapping and rape charges of a 25 year old waitress who was attacked when she was leaving work.

The woman managed to escape during the attack and reach the authorities. Orban's friend, Jeff Thomas Jelinek, a corrections officer at the Chino Institution for Men, picked up Orban and drove him back to the mall.

Orban had left his police service weapon in the victim's car, which Ontario police later recovered.

In 2011, Jelinek pled guilty to being an accessory to a crime and agreed to testify against Orban.

Orban's main defense is that he was under the influence of anti-depressants and was not in control of his actions. The difference between Orban arguing a good defense is whether or not he has an outstanding, aggressive, and knowledgeable criminal defense attorney in his corner.

Ex LAPD Detective Lazarus Convicted of First Degree Murder; Faces 27 Years

Former Los Angeles Police Detective Stephanie Lazarus, was found guilty of murdering the wife of a man who had rejected her; the 1986 slaying of Sherri Rasmussen, a 29-year-old nursing director.

Three months prior to the murder, Rasmussen had married John Ruetten, who had dated Lazarus casually for a few years.

Thursday's verdict brought to an end to a remarkable case in which a new generation of the LAPD redeemed the failures of a past one.

The case went cold for years as Lazarus built a successful career as a specialist in art fraud and theft cases. She married another LAPD detective and the couple adopted a young girl.

The case went cold and then was reopened in 2009. The advances in DNA testing helped lead back to Lazarus after a saliva sample taken from a bite mark on Rasmussen pointed to a woman.

Undercover officers followed Lazarus for weeks and eventually got hold of a cup she tossed in a garbage can and rushed it to the lab.

Jurors heard from DNA experts who testified that the test results were unambiguous: It had been Lazarus' saliva in the bite mark.

Lazarus was convicted of first degree murder will be sentenced on May 4th and faces 27 years. A corrections official stated that she may be eligible for parole after about 14 years.

Murder is a serious criminal charge that can result in 25 years to life in prison. Our Los Angeles Criminal Defense Attorneys have handled murder cases and been able to achieve great results for our clients.

Christian William Carney, 25, a former U.S. Marine was sentenced Friday to state prison for nearly 29 years for the murder of Stephen Serrano, 20, a San Clemente marnme, in 2008.

The DA office has stated that the murder occurred over a drug dispute involving money. .

Apparently, Carney was a drug dealer who sold cocaine and Ecstasy at Camp Pendleton in Southern California. While he was away from base, Serrano and another Marine stole his drug money,

When Carney found out, he and fellow Marine Alvin Reed Lovely, 24, of Dallas, allegedly drove Serrano to a secluded area in San Clemente and shot him four times.

The body was found by a jogger two days later.

Carney was sentenced to 28 years and eight months to life in prison. Lovely is awaiting trial for murder.

Zina Feeley, 66, had parked her 2006 Lincoln Town Car along the north shoulder of the 6000 block of Forest Lawn Drive about midnight Saturday to care for an animal lying in the road.

Two teenagers were in custody Thursday in the killing of a 24-year-old man who was fatally beaten during a drunken brawl at a Sherman Oaks park, according to police.

Brian Figeroa, 18, of Van Nuys, and a 17-year-old whose identity was not released because he is a juvenile, were drinking alcohol at Van Nuys-Sherman Oaks War Memorial Park with a third man when they got into an argument.

The two teens ended up beating the third man with a crowbar and a bottle. Witnesses saw and reported the beating. The two teens were arrested at the scene and the third man was immediately taken to UCLA Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

It was unknown if the attack was gang-related.

Prosecutors are to decide whether or not to charge the 17-year-old as an adult.

Figeroa is being held on $1 million bail.

The teens are likely to be charged with second degree murder or possibly voluntary manslaughter if they obtain the services of an aggressive and skilled defense attorney.

Theses are serious charges that can result in more than 10 years in prison and an experience criminal defense attorney is crucial.
