Santa Monica High School Student Victim to Hate Crime
Posted By Admin
An alleged racial incident that took place at Santa Monica High School is being investigated by Santa Monica police. An African American student claims that some of his fellow wrestling team members chained him to a locker and hung a noose around a brown wrestling dummy.  He also informed police that those teammates made racially charged comments to him.

The alleged incident was recently reported to the Santa Monica Police Department on June 21, but the actual incident allegedly happened over a month ago. The student's mother, Victoria Gray, reported it to police. She was upset because she was never made aware of the situation by the school and didn't find out about it until May 31, when she heard it from another parent. Sgt. Richard Lewis said that the students could face charges of assault and battery, and that the racial nature of the incident could be considered a hate crime.

According to police reports, the student walked into the school's wrestling room on May 4 and found a brown practice mannequin with a noose tied around its neck. When he went to the locker room to change, two students restrained him in a bear hug and used a cable and lock to chain his pants to a locker. The students allegedly made racial remarks.

Principle Hugo A. Pedroza sent an email to parents on June 16 stating that it was a "serious matter that warranted a swift and appropriate response." He also said that the students accused "were given appropriate disciplinary consequences, including suspension."  The entire wrestling team received sensitivity training and a workshop will be given at freshman orientation on racial sensitivity, bullying and hazing.

If you or a loved one is being accused of assault and battery it is important to know the possible penalties those charges carry. These penalties depend on whether the charge is considered a misdemeanor or felony. It is also very important to have appropriate legal representation that can guide you through the process and help you get the best possible outcome for your unique case.   Contact the  Hedding Law Firm today.   3 Men and 2 Juveniles Facing Felony Assault with a Deadly Weapon Charges for Shooting Paintball Guns at People
Posted By Admin
Three 18 year old men and two juveniles were arrested on suspicion of committing a rash of paintball assaults. They could face felony assault charges. The group shot at a girl on a bike, seniors, and a 16-year-old boy. According to Lt. Jay Hawver, the victims did not provide very good descriptions of the perpetrators, but the vehicle descriptions did help in catching the men. "It's very shocking when someone is hit, and victims don't pick up on the things," Hawver said. "We need them to notice like good solid descriptions or license plate numbers. The vehicle descriptions helped out tremendously based on the sheer number of victims."

Julian Stephens, Kevin Yuenyongsukal, and Eric Monson, the adults, were all booked on conspiracy to commit assault with a deadly weapon and held at Burbank Jail. They were released on $60,000 bail.

If you have been accused of assault with a deadly weapon, it is imperative that you hire an attorney. The criminal defense attorneys at the  Hedding law firm will work hard to collect all the facts pertaining to your case and give your case the proper attention to get a positive outcome.   'Sons of Anarchy' Actor, Mark Hiedrich, Arrested for Battery and Resisting Arrest
Posted By Admin
55-year-old "Sons of Anarchy" actor. Mark Hiedrich (known as Mark Boone Junior on the show) was arrested after resisting a police officer. The officer pulled Hiedrich over in his 1995 Ford Thunderbird for not wearing a seatbelt and using his cellphone while driving. Sources say that the actor was apparently in a rush. As the officer attempted to handcuff Hiedrich, Hiedrich resisted, leaving the officer on the ground. While resisting, the actor attempted -- but missed -- to punch the officer in the face. Sources say that the police officer was unfazed and unscathed after the altercation. On Tuesday at approximately 4:40 p.m. Hiedrich was put into custody for two misdemeanors: battery on a peace officer and resisting arrest.
