Law enforcement agencies are starting to use social media platforms, such as Facebook, to get info and keep their communities on top of developments. The Santa Monica police department announced Thursday that they are using Facebook to improve communications with the public and help solve crimes. According to Chief Timothy Jackman, "the Santa Monica Police Department Facebook will keep our community in the loop." Huntington Beach police department is also using Facebook. They used it Wednesday to try and identify a woman slain in 1968. According to authorities, the post brought in dozens of phone calls and a tip that allowed investigators to make progress.
