Man Posed as UPS Worker and Attempted to Rob a Business
Posted By Admin

El Segundo. Police are asking for the public's help to identify a man who posed as a UPS worker and attempted to rob a business.

An unknown man posed as a UPS worker and attempted to rob a business.

The crime occurred about 4:50 p.m. on Tuesday August 30, 2011 in the 100 block of Center Street in El Segundo. The man entered a cell phone distribution center pretending to be delivering a package. As he handed an employee an empty package, he allegedly drew a handgun from his waistband.

The man then told the victim to lie down on the ground and as he was going to the back of the warehouse, the victim ran upstairs and locked himself in his office.

The man thought the victim left the building and therefore, so did he.

The man was described as Latino, 23 to 27 years old, 5 feet 4 inches tall, 160 to 170 pounds. He wore a UPS uniform shirt. The handgun was believed to be a large-caliber semi-automatic pistol. He communicated with other suspects in a U-Haul truck.

Robbery is a serious felony and considered a strike under the California three strikes law. Attempted robbery is a serious crime as well and you may face jail time and excessive fines if convicted of either robbery or attempted robbery.

Former Laker Player Allegedly Invovled in Fatal Shooting
Posted By Admin

Javaris Crittenton, 23, a onetime Los Angeles Lakers player wanted in an Atlanta slaying. It is alleged that he is now in California.

Authorities allege that Crittenton fatally shot Jullian Jones on August19, 2011 in the woman's driveway in Atlanta.

Crittenton had reported that he was robbed of some jewelry prior to the shooting. He might have mistaken Jones for the thief when he opened fire from his vehicle as he drive by.

Jones was struck in the leg and later died during surgery. Two men with Jones fled and were not injured, and investigators now believe one of those men was the intended target.

The FBI told the Associated Press on Sunday that it was trying to locate the former basketball player in California but would not be more specific.

Crittenton was drafted by the Lakers in 2007 but traded his rookie year.

If Crittenton is found, he is likely to be charged with murder or a lesser offense. The charge of murder is the highest crime and faces penalties that are extremely harsh.
