55-year-old "Sons of Anarchy" actor. Mark Hiedrich (known as Mark Boone Junior on the show) was arrested after resisting a police officer. The officer pulled Hiedrich over in his 1995 Ford Thunderbird for not wearing a seatbelt and using his cellphone while driving. Sources say that the actor was apparently in a rush. As the officer attempted to handcuff Hiedrich, Hiedrich resisted, leaving the officer on the ground. While resisting, the actor attempted -- but missed -- to punch the officer in the face. Sources say that the police officer was unfazed and unscathed after the altercation. On Tuesday at approximately 4:40 p.m. Hiedrich was put into custody for two misdemeanors: battery on a peace officer and resisting arrest.
Assauly and battery are two separate and distinct criminal acts, usually grouped together in a criminal charge. If you threaten someone with bodily harm with the intention to inflict it, then the crime is considered assault. The crime of battery is when one causes bodily harm to another by using direct physical contact. Both assault and battery are violent crimes and are very serious charges in the state of California. Penalties may include up to 15 years in jail or prison, harsh fines, restitution, community service, probation and a mark on your criminal record for life.
